| Beatles Tribute by Encinitas Guitar Orchestra on April 15 Posted: 09 Mar 2011 02:58 PM PST 03.09.2011– The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra will perform a concert featuring almost exclusively Beatles music on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 8 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 925 Balour Dr., Encinitas. The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra, a community-based acoustic, classical guitar ensemble consisting of 25 to 30 local guitarists of all ages, puts a classical twist on Beatles classics including Hey Jude, Let it Be, Penny Lane, Blackbird, and many more. "While our song selection and themes change every session, our current focus is on the Beatles, simply because most guitarists and music enthusiasts love the Beatles," said Peter Pupping, organizer and conductor of the orchestra, and noted local performer and teacher. The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra is one of a few community guitar orchestras around the country that invites amateur guitarists from beginner through advanced levels. The synergy between players of different levels help perfect their playing skills, learn new music, and enjoy the camaraderie of playing in an ensemble. "The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra is a true jewel in our area," Pupping said. "For most amateur classical and acoustic guitarists, practicing is a solo pursuit and there aren't many opportunities to perform. The orchestra gives everyone a chance to improve their skills and give them a supportive performing outlet."
