| John Lennon's Handwritten Beatles Lyrics To Sell For $700,000 Posted: 01 May 2010 01:14 PM PDT John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to Beatles song A Day in the Life could sell for $700,000 when they go under the hammer. The single sheet of paper, which will be sold by auctioneers Sotheby's in New York on June 18, has a rough draft of the lyrics to the tune, including words crossed out and spelling errors. On the flip side of the sheet is a neater version of the lyrics, with fewer corrections made to it. When the song was released in 1967, the BBC banned it because it included the line 'I love to turn you on', believed to be a drug reference. The line was added later to the song and is not in the original lyrics. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the song is the 26th best of all time. The lyrics being auctioned once belonged to the Beatles' road manager Mal Evans. Five Filters featured article: The Art of Looking Prime Ministerial - The 2010 UK General Election.
