The Beatles were huge fans of Elvis and the two even jammed together once.

They'll be together again -- in a manner of speaking -- at 7:30 p.m. June 12 when Elvis impersonator Jay Allan and Beatles tribute group Liverpool Beat present ''Memphis Meets Liverpool'' at Symphony Hall, Allentown.

Allan will perform hits such as ''Hound Dog'' and ''Don't be Cruel'' with his eight-member That's The Way It is Showband, joined by a former member of Elvis' own backing band. There will even be Viva Las Vegas Show Girls and a tribute to Ann-Margret.

Liverpool Beat re-creates 1964 Beatlemania with songs like ''Hard Day's Night'' and ''She Loves You.''

Tickets are $25-$45. Call 610-432-6715 or go to http://www.allentownsymphony.org .

Beatles would have reformed if all the members had survived: Macca

Posted: 17 May 2010 06:51 AM PDT

London, May 17 : Sir Paul McCartney says that he's sure that the Beatles would have reformed in recent years if all their members had survived.

The band split in 1970 and went on to work on a variety of different solo projects.

Ten years later, the musicians were struck with tragedy when John Lennon was shot dead in New York City in 1980.

Another band-mate George Harrison passed away in 2001 following a battle with lung cancer, leaving just Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

"It could have happened. We were asked to do reunion gigs shortly after we broke up. There wasn't any point. It was like, 'We've just split,' the Daily Express quoted McCartney as saying.

"I also had Wings so I was a bit busy doing other things. It wasn't really a good idea then, but I think if this much time had elapsed, I could easily see it happening. Somebody would have said, 'Oh go on. Just for a laugh.'

"It could have been a charity thing. Or it could have been because we just met up and said, 'Let's do it.' You never know. But it's not to be so sadly it's all just conjecture," he added.

McCartney: 'The Beatles would have reformed'

Sir Paul McCartney is convinced the Beatles would have reformed in recent years if all their members had survived - because they would have signed up for a reunion "just for a laugh". Skip related content

The Fab Four split in 1970 and went on to work on a variety of different solo projects, but 10 years later the musicians were struck with tragedy when John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City in 1980.

The Beatles lost another member in 2001 when George Harrison passed away following a battle with lung cancer, leaving just Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

And McCartney is convinced that if all four bandmates were still alive today, they would have been keen to reform.

He tells the Sunday Mail newspaper, "It could have happened. We were asked to do reunion gigs shortly after we broke up. There wasn't any point. It was like, 'We've just split!' I also had Wings so I was a bit busy doing other things. It wasn't really a good idea then, but I think if this much time had elapsed, I could easily see it happening. Sir Paul McCartney Blames EMI for Beatles Absence on iTunes

Posted: 17 May 2010 04:45 AM PDT

Sir Paul McCartney has blamed record label EMI for the delay in getting the Beatles' music on iTunes.

Speaking to BBC's Newsbeat, the Liverpudlian placed the blame on the band's label EMI for the lack of progress in getting their tracks onto the digital music store.

He said, "To tell you the truth I don't actually understand how it's got so crazy. I know iTunes would like to do it, so one day it's going to happen."

"It's been business hassles. Not with us, or iTunes. It's the people in the middle, the record label. There have been all sorts of reasons why they don't want to do it."

EMI did however reply, claiming that they are continuing negotiations and would be enthused to see the band's music available to buy online.

In a statement , the company said, "Discussions are ongoing. We would love to see the Beatles' music available for sale digitally."

Sir Paul is due to embark on a solo jaunt at the start of June with his 'Up and Coming' tour, which will visit a number of cities across the UK and Ireland, including London, Dublin and Glasgow.
