The Beatles to Release Limited Edition Single for Record Store Day

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 04:42 AM PDT

Forty years after their much-lamented demise, the Beatles are to release a limited edition vinyl edition of 'Paperback Writer' backed with the psychedelic classic 'Rain' in celebration of this year's Record Store Day on April 17. Presented in a vintage-style paper Parlophone house bag, the single is limited to a run of just 1,000 copies.

Joining the Fab Four will be a host of Parlophone artists including Pet Shop Boys, Bat for Lashes, chart-topper Tinie Tempah, Babyshambles, Lily Allen and Hot Chip, all of whom will also be releasing strictly limited-edition vinyl singles. The releases will be exclusive to the independent records stores taking part in the event.

Speaking of the releases, Parlophone President Miles Leonard said, "Parlophone and our artists recognise the importance of our indie stores and their contribution to not only our new and developing artists but to our catalogue as a whole. Being able to support this campaign with some great seven-inch releases from the Beatles to Bat for Lashes is our way of thanking them for their continued support."

Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys added, "Independent record stores play a vital role in selling music from the fringe as well as the mainstream. We're delighted to be releasing a one-off vinyl single only available in independent shops as part of Record Store Day."

As previously reported on Spinner, this year's Record Store Day campaign was launched by a promotional video fronted by Queens Of The Stone Age supremo Josh Homme.

American Idol 2010 Beatles Week - 'Come Together' Crystal Bowersox - Did You Like The Didgeridoo? [VIDEO]

Posted: 07 Apr 2010 10:09 AM PDT

Beatles week has been my favorite so far on American Idol season 9! As usual, Crystal Bowersox rocked the Beatles. 'Come Together' was Bowersox's song choice for the week.

What can I say? I loved it! I love 'Come Together' already, and she did a fantastic performance of yet another of my favorite Beatles songs. Bowersox was once again playing her guitar, and she sounded very soulful at the beginning. She even played the Didgeridoo which was beautiful!

The judges loved her performance even though the didn't think it was her best one ever. Crystal Bowersox is certainly still the Idol to beat this season on American Idol. Click here to get the 'Come Together' lyrics and to watch the Beatles perform 'Come Together.'

What do you think about Crystal Bowersox? Here's Crystal Bowersox 'Come Together' performance video.
